This is a call to every church and all church leaders, at every level, in KZN - in all cities, towns and villages, informal settlements, townships and suburbs.
These are absolutely unprecedented times. On Thursday 26th March our nation goes into lockdown. The Covid-19 crisis presents us with a new front of response and the need for a new level of urgent (and adaptive) leadership, coordination and collaborative action. As President Ramaphosa summarised, never before have we faced such an urgent and large-scale threat - and ultimate “Thuma Mina” moment. This requires a fast-paced and widespread response from us, the churches, across KZN. One that is rooted in unity, decisive action and neighbour-love.
None of our congregations or communities will be spared. All of our spiritual, emotional and material means and tools are going to be called on. And this will be an unparalleled moment for the church’s Christian witness in action, in our local communities. We are in this together.
Responding in unity, and with immediacy and boldness is our spiritual act of resistance. It is a time for sacrificial and servant leadership.
Please prayerfully join this call to action.
